So if we\u2019re still relying on old numbers, we\u2019re missing the full picture.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Meetings have changed \u2014 so should the meeting statistics we use.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In this article, we\u2019ll walk through the latest stats and insights about how meetings actually work in today\u2019s world \u2014 how much time we\u2019re spending in data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s face it \u2014 meetings are a huge part of modern work life. Most of us spend a surprising amount of time in them each week. In fact, the average employee now spends about <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fellow.app\/blog\/meetings\/meetings-statistics-how-many-hours-do-we-spend-in-meetings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>11.3 hours a week<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in meetings \u2014 that\u2019s almost <\/span><b>a third of the workweek<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">!\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And it\u2019s not just a few people sitting through lots of calls. According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/calendly.com\/resources\/guides\/2024-state-of-meetings-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Calendly<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>78% of U.S. workers and 85% of U.K. workers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> say they spend at least <\/span><b>3 hours in meetings every week<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 and for many, it\u2019s way more than that.<\/span><\/p><p><b>The daily meeting load<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is also pretty high. Nearly <\/span><b>half of professionals (46%)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> say they attend <\/span><b>3 or more meetings every single day<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>50% of salespeople<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are in meetings for over <\/span><b>5 hours daily<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Folks at larger companies feel this the most \u2014 <\/span><b>59% of enterprise employees<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> log more than <\/span><b>5 hours a week<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in meetings, compared to <\/span><b>just 32%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at smaller firms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over time, we\u2019ve definitely gotten used to having more meetings. Studies show the <\/span><b>amount of time spent in meetings has grown by around 10% each year<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the past 20 years. And thanks to hybrid and <a href=\"https:\/\/archieapp.co\/blog\/remote-work-statistics\/\">remote work<\/a>, it\u2019s easier than ever to hop on a call, so meetings<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2023\/02\/13\/1156610135\/since-the-pandemic-began-is-it-better-to-have-more-meetings-at-work-or-none-at-a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>have<\/b> <b>tripled<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> since the start of the pandemic. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c228ec7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c228ec7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Meeting time patterns<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cf969b8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"cf969b8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-start=\"29\" data-end=\"305\">If you\u2019ve ever felt like all your meetings end up crammed into the same few hours, you\u2019re not imagining it. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/worklab\/work-trend-index\/breaking-down-infinite-workday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft\u2019s 2025 data<\/a> shows that about <strong data-start=\"176\" data-end=\"231\">half of all meetings happen between 9\u201311am or 1\u20133pm<\/strong>;\u00a0times when many people would rather be doing their most focused work.<\/p><p data-start=\"307\" data-end=\"494\">Tuesdays are the busiest meeting days of the week, with roughly <strong data-start=\"371\" data-end=\"401\">23% of all weekly meetings<\/strong> landing there. Fridays, on the other hand, are much quieter, making up only about <strong data-start=\"484\" data-end=\"491\">16%<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"496\" data-end=\"912\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The problem? Packing meetings into peak productivity hours means less time for \u201cdeep work\u201d \u2013 those uninterrupted stretches when you can really get things done.
